British Columbia Women in Law Enforcement (BCWLE) is an association which includes officers and civilians from various law enforcement agencies, as well as volunteer and student members. The law enforcement agencies involved in BCWLE include, but are not limited to: RCMP, municipal policing agencies, BC Sheriffs, CBSA, provincial and federal corrections and B.C. Conservation. The vision of BCWLE is to strengthen, unite and promote women in law enforcement in the province of British Columbia. With the creation of the Cross Canada Wisdom Web, Cross Canada Webinars and the BCWLE Speaker series, BCWLE has been succeeding. The Wisdom Web is a mentorship program with over 50 members from various agencies across Canada dedicated to providing guidance and assistance to those seeking support in their careers. The BCWLE speaker series is available to all members of the association and has already provided education, awareness and access to experiences faced by members in law enforcement as well as assistance in mentoring others and mental health and resilience. The webinars are a collaborative effort with other women in law enforcement association across the country to provide awareness on current topical issues facing law enforcement members. BCWLE was formed in 2019 and looking to continue to grow. The association is planning to host in person member training as well as begin an award program to recognize BCWLE members making a difference in the community.
